Our client is a global leader in FMCG manufacturing. Their prestigious manufacturing facility is currently experiencing sustained expansion and business growth, and to remain at the forefront of a highly competitive marketplace, an immediate opportunity has arisen for a proven and dynamic Operations professional to manage a plant / production area in a thriving manufacturing plant.

Role Responsibilities & Duties – Manufacturing Area Manager

  • Reporting directly into the Site Operations Manager, you will be an integral part of the manufacturing team, undertaking a diverse role with responsibility for controlling the movement of all raw materials through to finished goods in your factory, planning and scheduling production resources to meet customer needs within quality, time and cost
  • Have full accountability for the management of agreed budgets
  • Manage, control and monitor “cost per case” against the site’s KPI’s, budgets and forecasts
  • Acting as a change agent, you will be responsible for leadership of technical and production professionals in your area, via your established management team; as well as co-ordinating and driving development projects which will lead towards performance improvements
  • You will deliver products within constraints, identify, recommend and implement process improvements, as well as design a performance management system for operational teams
  • The role will involve a significant amount of Change Management in all areas of manufacturing, engineering and operations

  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a continuous improvement culture across the site to drive OEE performance
  • Manage, lead, and contribute to a range of site projects – there is significant NPD/EPD initiatives and CAPEX Investment
  • Complete ownership of both your plants and people, leading your team through clear, inspirational leadership
  • Deliver the Site Operation’s Safety and well-being Plan
  • Review and optimise production schedule to maximise plant efficiency
  • Develop training and coaching programmes to deliver a high performing Operations team
  • You will manage a minimum size team of 100 colleagues, via several direct manufacturing Shift Manager reports
  • You will manage several production lines operating 24/7, making sure they operate safely, to a high standard, within budget whilst meeting KPI’s relating to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People

Role Requirements - Manufacturing Area Manager

  • Graduate calibre, ideally engineering qualified, with a considerable understanding of all areas of factory operations
  • You will also possess FMCG or fast paced manufacturing industry experience, with factory knowledge and understanding of the key drivers within an FMCG factory environment
  • You will be truly inspirational in your approach and management of people, as well as possess a high degree of commercial and financial understanding. In addition, you will be experienced in change management, CI, planning and organising factory improvement initiatives

  • Educated to Degree level ideally or equivalent with 3-5 years in manufacturing roles or HNC\HND with 3-5 years manufacturing production management experience
  • FMCG manufacturing and distribution experience
  • This could suit a proven Senior Production Manager hoping to take more responsibility for a days based leadership area role, operating with complete autonomy; or an established Production / Manufacturing / Plant Manager. You want a new challenge in a growing company who are always doing new things.
  • You will need a good knowledge of quality systems and standards within the fmcg industry, as will a real commitment to continuous improvement
  • You will report to the Site Operations Manager, and you are part of the site Production Leadership Team
