Our client, a renowned leader in horticulture, is seeking a dedicated General Horticultural Worker to join their production team. This family-owned business has an impressive legacy of excellence in cultivating a wide variety of roses, celebrated globally for their exceptional beauty, fragrance, and garden performance.

Successful candidate must reside in the UK as this role is unable to offer sponsorship

Primary Purpose:

The role focuses on growing, picking, and dispatching roses to customers, ensuring the highest standards of quality and care.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Work in packhouses, fields, and container beds in all weather conditions (PPE provided). 
  • Perform general horticultural tasks such as planting, weeding, wood cutting, and nipping out.
  • Participate in production line activities, including preparing, packing, and dispatching potted and bare root roses.
  • Engage in potting, pruning, grading, and picking roses.
  • Manage pot and crop spacing.
  • Maintain general rose plant husbandry and ensure nursery hygiene by sweeping, cleaning, and disposing of pots.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • A great team player who enjoys collaborative work, yet can work independently when required.
  • Previous experience in a manual/production environment, with the ability to meet targets and deadlines.
  • An eye for detail and quality, working efficiently to maintain team pace and ensure targets are met.
  • Experience in the horticultural industry with a genuine interest in plants.
  • Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn new skills, and readiness to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to switch between various roles within the production team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Driven and hard-working with a commitment to maintaining high standards.

Working Hours:

  • 39-hour week: Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4.30pm; Friday, 8am to 3.30pm.
  • Breaks: 15-minute morning break and a 45-minute lunch break.
